The three things I want the Lakers to do this off-season

I wrote this on 6/13 (Link)
Make two trades to rebalance the roster
At least one of those trades should be on or before the draft. The Lakers have too many small forwards and need a true PF and a PG. Drafting alone isn't going to solve this problem. I love the Medvedenko, George and #37 pick to Pacers for Bender and #17 pick trade as well as the Butler, #17, Atkins, Vlade and trade X for Boozer and Borchardt trade. It doesn't have to be these trades, but it should be the same type of trades.

Hire a coach who knows how to work with young players
I don't like Jackson or Shaw as coach next season. I don't like Jackson because his experience is with veteran teams that are ready to contend for the title and I don't like Shaw because of his lack of experience. My suggestion is Chris Ford for coach and make Shaw a top assistant coach.

Mihm and Vujacic hit the weight room hard
To me, the biggest opportunity the Lakers have for improvement this off-season is for Mihm to get stronger and better conditioned. Center is the most difficult position to get talent, so it is really unlikely that the Lakers are going to get a young center better than Mihm. With 2 or more days rest, Mihm averaged 27.7 mpg, 12.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 1.65 bpg while shooting 55.5%. With no rest, Mihm averaged 21.1 mpg, 7.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 1.19 bpg while shooting 44.1%. If Mihm could play 33 mpg consistently like he played this season with 2 or more days rest, he would a 15/9/2 player.

I don't know if Vujacic will ever be a starting PG, but I would be really happy to see him develop into a quality back up PG/SG. Tierre Brown was awful as our back up PG and we didn't really have a back up SG. Vujacic gives the Lakers another opportunity to really improve without changing the roster.

[Edit: Put in Chris Ford sentance in coaching section]
